Germany's most valuable AI startup announces its commitment during London Tech Week, building on a year in which its UK team has already tripled in size
LONDON and BERLIN, 9 June 2026 – n8n, the AI orchestration platform, today announced a target of 200 UK-based employees by 2029. The announcement coincides with the UK Government's AI Adoption Summit during London Tech Week.
The commitment reflects the growth of n8n's UK enterprise customer base and marks the next stage in its international expansion. More than 35% of the Fortune 500 have adopted n8n, alongside a community of 1.8 million monthly active developers and builders, and it counts a number of the UK's largest organisations among its most active enterprise customers – including Vodafone and government ministries on Whitehall.
n8n was founded in Berlin in 2019 by Jan Oberhauser and remains headquartered there. Built on a fair-code licence, it is free to adopt and self-host, giving organisations full access to the source code from day one. Its visual interface also puts the construction of AI workflows directly in the hands of the teams running them, ensuring sophisticated automation is accessible across an organisation and not just within a specialist engineering function. And because n8n runs within an organisation's own infrastructure, data never has to leave its environment, providing a data sovereignty model that has proved particularly important to enterprises operating under GDPR, sector-specific regulations, or internal data residency requirements.
n8n is ranked as Germany's most valuable AI startup, valued at $5.2bn following strategic partnership and investment with SAP in May 2026.
AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: "n8n is exactly the kind of company we want choosing the UK as it grows internationally - a European AI success story recognising the strength of our talent and our tech ecosystem."
"Their decision to expand their UK team as they scale globally underlines Britain’s role as a leading destination for AI companies to succeed. That’s how we turn AI investment into jobs, growth and opportunity across the country."
n8n's UK customers span a range of industries and organisations, including financial services, enterprise technology, and government.
This includes Vodafone, which used n8n to automate threat intelligence workflows across engineering and security operations, in an environment that processes billions of security events per month and previously required significant manual effort. The deployment has saved Vodafone UK 5,000 person-days and avoided £2.2mn in costs, with savings running at approximately £300,000 per month.
"n8n started in Berlin and was nurtured in Germany. But the companies we work with do not recognise borders, and neither does our ambition,” said Jan Oberhauser, CEO & Founder of n8n. “The UK has become one of our most important markets – our customers here are running some of the most sophisticated AI deployments we see anywhere in the world. It only makes sense that by 2029, we aim to have one in five of our entire workforce based in the UK. That is a statement about how seriously we take this market, and of the engineering and AI talent that exists in this country."
n8n is one of the most prominent technology companies to have emerged from the European AI sector in recent years. Its strategic partnerships with SAP, Accenture and Deutsche Telekom, along with customers including Mercedes-Benz, each reflect the depth of its roots in the German and European enterprise market. The UK operation announced today adds to that international footprint.
